About the Artist

Welcome to Steven Crawley Art, where I share my passion for Western art, scratchboard, drawing, and more. Through my sub-brand Crawley Art Room, I offer creative lesson plans for teachers, drawn from a decade in the classroom.
Education
I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Illustration from Ringling College of Art and Design, which laid the foundation for my creative career.
Teaching Experience
For the past 10 years, I’ve taught art at Royal High School in Brookshire, Texas—specializing in drawing and also teaching ceramics for 7 of those years. My students have made the auction at the Houston Rodeo Student Art Contest for five straight years—a major achievement for our small rural public school. This success sparked my own focus on Western art themes.
Early Career
Before teaching, I spent five years at Visual Promotions in Sealy, Texas, handling design production and advertising. Prior to returning to Texas, I worked full-time in-house for 7 years at a major American art brand (happy to share details privately).
Side Ventures
I’ve done ongoing freelance digital art for that same major American art brand. I also ran a business selling digital brushes and styles for Adobe products on GraphicRiver—residual sales still come in, though I’ve stepped back from new creations. Recently, I’ve started listing lessons on Teachers Pay Teachers, with plans to add more.
Current Focus
I’m exploring exciting new scratchboard techniques and entering juried shows as an emerging Western artist. I look forward to this new phase of creating, exhibiting, and selling my original work! I thank God for giving me the skill and a burning desire to make art.
