Juror’s Praise at Texas City Art Show
Juror Jeremy Johnson for the Texas City Art Show made a gracious mention of my piece in the show program. In his "Statement from the Juror," he wrote:
"A tender scene of reverence after violence, rendered in scratchboard, reminds us that each mark, each act of subtraction can create something haunting and beautiful; sometimes, removing is a way of moving forward."
Near the end of the evening, I had the chance to chat with him about my art, his journey in writing, and our shared concerns about AI's growing role in the arts. We both share a hope that people will always value and reward genuine human skill and creativity.
Jeremy encouraged me to keep pushing my scratchboard work and to experiment boldly with my own boundaries. Thanks again to him for all the kind words and strong affirmations. I'm ready to try something very scary in my next scratchboard (more to come soon on that).
