My Student Heads to Western Art Academy Summer Camp
Just got the news that one of my Houston Rodeo gold medal winners has been invited to join the Western Art Academy Class of 2026!
The acceptance letter said, “Out of over 150 applicants, you stood out and will be attending Schreiner University this summer. This opportunity will challenge you as an artist and will be something that you will never forget!”
The program is a four-week intensive art camp in the Texas Hill Country, focused on painting and sculpture. Honestly, I’m a little jealous — it sounds amazing. Best of all, it’s a scholarship program, so once students arrive, everything is included: food, lodging, supplies, working western art professional instructors, and live models.
This is my first student to be accepted into WAA, so I’m thrilled to check that off my art teacher bucket list. I’m so proud of this student and excited to see where this opportunity leads!
